I have historically tried to supervise or work with approximately three graduate students at any one time; however, I am always open to consider good students whose interests overlap mine. I am also interested in working with research-oriented undergraduate students. In the near-term, I envision directly working with students interested in developmental epidemiology, informatics/computer technology, and/or quantitative methods. As described in my "Research" section, my primary lines of research activity are developmental epidemiology and biobehavioral informatics. I am also involved with a number of larger research teams examining health and development in adolescents and the elderly, as well as the impact of the built environment on health. I would encourage interested students to read the material in my Research section, as well as some of the corresponding abstracts and articles. In addition, as you may gather from parts of this web-site, I am very interested in quantitative issues. Regardless of content area, I find it rewarding to work with a hardworking and motivated student sincerely interested in learning research and analytic techniques. I always closely consider students who are interested in broad training in quantitative issues or computers/technology. |
